The Reynolds County Genealogy Society was organized in the fall of 1983. Friends Lee Sylcox and Roy DeJournett, who had been researching family history, saw the need for a group to gather and share genealogical material pertaining to Reynolds County. read more
The Reynolds County Genealogy and Historical Society Museum was established to accept donations, gifts, and loans of items that illustrate the history of Reynolds County. Museum items are at least twenty-five years old, unless they pertain to military history or newsworthy events or are part of a special exhibit. read more
The Society library contains approximately twelve hundred volumes of family histories, county histories, census, cemetery and marriage records, church and school histories and newsletters from other societies. These materials cover mainly Reynolds County, but include publications from other counties and states. read more
In 1987 the Society published its first hardback history and biography book, Reynolds County. Missouri 1845-1987. Biographical Sketches and in 1995 the hardback book, Reynolds County. Missouri “Sesquicentennial Year” 1845-1995. Vol. 1. These books are now available in paperback from the Society along with other publications on Reynolds County and neighboring counties. These books may be purchased in the gift shop or ordered by mail or email. read more
All Society publications are available for sale in the gift shop. Cups and T-shirts featuring the Society logo and museum are also for sale. In addition, books by Reynolds County authors or items handcrafted by present or former Reynolds countians are also for sale. The sale of items in the gift shop helps support the museum.
